“I do not know much about Gen. Sukru Sariisik, the new Secretary General of National Security Board (MGK), and I have never met him before. However his speech in the handing-over ceremony impressed me a lot…His speech was on grasping the multi-dimensional equations of the global world. “The security concept in the global world should be shaped in accordance with political, social, and economic considerations.” This words of Sariisik expresses an open and analytical view, which fully grasps the changing world.

“…There is a mainstream mentality in Turkey, which knows not only militarism but also economy and politics well, however ignores sociology. Following this mentality, the speech of Sariisik relieves us while the generals who retired were greeted with the following words of Chief of General Staff Hilmi Ozkok, “The security climate in which we live requires a more mature mentality. Otherwise we cannot save ourselves from those who repeat the past and stay where they are overlooking the change.” They will be remembered as such. Gen. Sariisik, please do not forget your speech.”
